Papyrus

I am much enjoying Irene Vallejo's Papyrus, a history of the rise of books and reading in classical times, with many very informative digressions such as - concerning  oral traditions - the suicide of Kurosawa's brother Heigo in 1933 when there was no longer a need for benshi - people who explained silent films to a cinema audience.
